Coquihalla River | Hope BC

Last weekend we walked a short walk down to where Suckers Creek runs into the Coquihalla River. We’d heard that river otters had been seen around there, but as we’d not seen them before we didn’t set too much store in seeing them. Shortly after arriving, sure enough I saw my first river otter as it hauled itself out of the river, up onto a log and stared at me for a few moments before it hastily retreated to some undergrowth. Down by the river, someone had been busy building inukshuks so I spent a few minutes taking photos of the creations, new growth coming up between the river rocks, and the decided to build my own (visible in the last photo of this post). I’m still shooting my Leica M6 that needs repairing due to an issue with the 2 fastest shutter speeds, so some of these were knowingly very over-exposed; thankfully I know from past experience that Portra 800 can handle significant overexposure! Camera: Leica M6 with Zeiss 50mm f/1.5 | Film stock: Kodak Portra 800 | Lab: Canadian Film Lab
